The oldest WWW resources related to the Voynich MS

Already in the early 1990's, information about the Voynich MS was presented on web pages. Many of these earliest examples have now disappeared. However, some of the data from these pages has been preserved. This material is presented below. The selection is to some extent subjective, though emphasis is on items to which the present web site still has references.

Jim Gillogly

This represents the very first WWW presence that I am aware of, and was an ftp site. After it disappeared, a copy was preserved by Jorge Stolfi, but in the course of 2024 also his web site has become unavailable.

Jim Reeds

Jim Reeds' page was an important resource with original information that he had collected over time. Some of the items below are HTML web pages whose links have not all been edited, and will mostly fail.

Jacques Guy

Jacques Guy did not really have his own web presence, but his definition of the Frogguy transliteration alphabet is included here, even as it was originally available at some other web site.

Robert Firth

In the early 1990's Robert Firth presented a series of notes on various topics, all in plain text files. Following is a selection, concentrating on those notes that are dealing with the text of the MS.

Gabriel Landini

In the early 1990's, Gabriel Landini was an active participant in online Voynich MS discussions, and participated in a collaborative effort to transliterate the entire Voynich MS. He designed the first accurate True Type Font. His web site no longer exists, but his own latest version of the Eva alphabet and font (May 2025) is included below.

Rafał Prinke

This web site had a unique collection of items related to the history of the Voynich MS.

Jorge Stolfi

This is a very minor selection of Jorge Stolfi's extensive writings, but it includes his most important contributions, according to my subjective opinion.

Xavier Ceccaldi
